Hydrogen is powering BMWs, taxis, a Star Wars style racing pod, and even a high-tech spy ship. Hi, I'm Steve Hill, CEO of NewHydrogen, with this week's top hydrogen news. First up, BMW is putting hydrogen back in the garage. The company has started building prototypes of its next generation fuel cell system with series production planned for 2028. This new system is smaller, lighter, and more powerful, making it easier to integrate into a wide range of vehicles.

It's a reminder that hydrogen in automotive isn't dead. It's evolving into something more practical and scalable. Next, Toyota is taking hydrogen to the streets of Tokyo. The company has joined the Tokyo H2 initiative, adding its Crown Fuel cell sedan to the city's taxi fleet. The goal is to deploy 200 hydrogen powered taxis by the end of this year and ramp up about 600 by 2030.

It's a practical everyday use of hydrogen that gives thousands of passengers firsthand experience with clean transportation every day. The airship uses advanced storage systems to keep the hydrogen safe and stable. Purpose-built for safety, endurance, and efficiency, this platform is a strong example of just how versatile hydrogen can be in specialized applications.

And here's where things get fun. A real life Star Wars pod racer. French startup Maka Flight has unveiled the S11 car copter, a singleseat flying racer that looks like it was pulled straight out of a Star Wars movie. It uses hydrogen fuel cells to power six electric motors and three pairs of rotors, reaching speeds of up to 155 mph. It's designed for racing, but it's also a glimpse at how hydrogen can drive futuristic aviation concepts that push the limits of performance and imagination.

Hydrogen is making headlines across industries, from everyday cars and city taxis to high-tech surveillance and high-speed racing. But none of this innovation works without cheap, clean hydrogen.
