What if I told you the biggest force holding back artificial intelligence right now has nothing to do with GPUs or model size. It's something far more basic and far more urgent. Hi, I'm Steve Hill, CEO of NewHydrogen, with this week's top hydrogen news. Let's talk about what's really slowing down AI. The world is building data centers at a pace the grid was never designed for. A single hypers scale facility uses as much electricity as a small city.

Some regions have openly admitted they can't approve new data center projects because the substations are already maxed out. Ireland has stopped entirely. Singapore did the same. Georgia and the Carolinas are in trouble and now scrambling for gigigigawatts of new base load capacity. And here's the part most people outside the energy world don't realize. AI doesn't need a lot of electricity.

It needs a specific kind of electricity. Constant, stable, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The kind of power that doesn't fluctuate, doesn't depend on weather, and doesn't blink when the load spikes. That's why nuclear is suddenly back in every serious energy conversation. Small modular reactors are being evaluated because they offer something the AI era absolutely requires. And this is where hydrogen comes into focus. Nuclear reactors generate a huge amount of heat, much more than they can convert into electricity. Only about a third becomes power. The rest is steady high temperature heat that has to be released through cooling towers or water systems. Thermal loop can turn that excess heat into clean hydrogen instead of letting it disappear into the air.

When you combine nuclear's always on heat with a process that uses heat instead of electricity to split water, the synergy becomes obvious. Now, let's shift to a growing application for clean hydrogen. Top Gear just reviewed a hydrogen-powered V6 race car that has the performance and personality of a traditional combustion engine with almost none of the emissions. It refuels in minutes, costs about the same to build as a gas version, but keeps the emotional experience that racing fans love.

Imagine a hydrogen Lamborghini V12 or McLaren V8. All the visceral excitement and none of the carbon footprint. Last story for the day. In heavy industry, another major shift is underway. Hyundai steel is preparing to unveil its hydrogen-based steel making model here in the United States. Steelmaking is one of the hardest sectors to decarbonize because it depends on extremely high temperatures and huge amounts of energy. Hydrogen offers a real path to cleaner production without changing the core process. If steel moves towards hydrogen at scale, the environmental impact will be massive.

This is a sector where hydrogen can make a real difference in global emissions. Here's the bottom line. Hydrogen isn't optional. It's essential.
